Fighting Socialism

“As your representative in Congress, I understand the profound impact that totalitarian and socialist regimes have had on our South Florida community. That’s why I am committed to being a strong advocate against these oppressive regimes.” – María Elvira Salazar

Here are some of my key accomplishments:

  • I asked President Biden to grant Internet Access in Cuba: I advocated for increased internet access in Cuba to allow the world to witness and document the regime’s repression of pro-democracy protests.
  • The FORCE Act: I introduced legislation to ensure Cuba remains on the State Sponsor of Terrorism list until it meets specific conditions for human rights and democratic reforms.
  • I Constantly Denounce the Cuban Regime: I reaffirmed our commitment to freedom, liberty, and human rights by demanding the Cuban regime remain on the State Sponsors of Terror list and criticized recent diplomatic approaches.
  • My RENACER Act signed into law: This bill sanctions the Ortega-Murillo Regime in Nicaragua.
  • Introduced the Nicaragua Political Prisoner Support Act: I introduced legislation to provide critical support services to 222 political prisoners expelled by the Ortega-Murillo regime.
  • Support Free Speech in Brazil: I voiced support for free speech in Brazil, criticizing the current administration’s attacks on fundamental rights and supporting freedom of expression.
  • Introduced Legislation to Restore Democracy and Accountability in Venezuela: I proposed support for international efforts to address the Maduro regime’s crimes and provide relief to Venezuelans suffering from a prolonged political and economic crisis.
